The Department of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame seeks candidates for Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-26 academic year. We are open to any subfield within American Studies, and candidates should demonstrate capacity to teach undergraduate courses that complement our mission to “study the American experience in all its diversity.” The Department is a highly interdisciplinary intellectual community, with a large undergraduate program marked by students committed to critical thinking, intersectional inquiry, and social justice. Teaching load is two classes per semester. PhD in American Studies is preferred but not required.
