The Dickinson College Department of American Studies invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning fall 2025. 

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. (or ABD) in American Studies, Latinx Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, Ethnic Studies, or an allied field. The candidate must be able to teach a range of courses in Latinx studies (Borderland Studies, Introduction to Latinx Studies, Latinx Popular Culture) as well as the Introduction to American Studies. We are especially interested in applicants whose teaching and scholarship creatively navigate the intersections of diverse fields and perspectives, potentially including borderlands studies, gender and sexuality studies, environmental humanities, critical futures studies, or other interdisciplinary approaches. 

This position entails teaching five courses over the academic year. Responsibilities include contributing to the core American Studies curriculum and offering specialized courses reflecting the candidate's expertise. A strong commitment to pedagogical excellence and the ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be important characteristics of the successful candidate.
