The department of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Race and Carceral Studies with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2021. The successful candidates will be intellectually expansive scholars trained in the humanities and/or social sciences. The candidate must have a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of study prior to appointment. The search is open to any time period and field in transnational American and Ethnic Studies. We are especially interested in building in Black Studies, refugee and immigrant detention, intersectional feminisms, social justice and/or public scholarship.
