New England American Studies Association

The New England American Studies Association (NEASA) serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.  In order to promote and strengthen American studies in the region, NEASA encourages the study of the culture and history of New England; hosts an annual fall colloquium and spring conference; sponsors regional American studies related events; and fosters engagement across institutional boundaries including the academy, public institutions, and non-profits.

Its membership includes community college, college, and university faculty; secondary school teachers; undergraduates, graduate students and independent scholars; and archivists, museum curators, and public historians. NEASA works to ensure that these constituencies are represented on NEASA’s Council. ASA members residing in the region are automatically NEASA members. Members of the ASA residing outside of the region may join the NEASA according to the ASA guidelines.
