This year, the ASA Visual Culture Caucus has organized a guided tour at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (MCA), Friday, November 10. Open since 1967, the MCA is an innovative and compelling center of contemporary art where the public can experience the work and ideas of living artists, and understand the historical, social and cultural context of the art of our time. As a part of our guided tour, we will see several ongoing exhibitions, including: To the Racy Brink which kicks off the MCA’s 50th anniversary by honoring the artists and exhibitions that placed the museum on the vanguard of contemporary art; Woman with a Camera which presents photographs by 16 women artists who come from a diverse set of backgrounds and generations, and address various artistic concerns; and We Are Here, a major three-part exhibition drawn from the MCA’s collection to commemorate the museum’s 50th anniversary.
Register for the tour here https://asa.press.jhu.edu/asa/conference. Cost is $6.00. Participants meet at 1:30pm in the West Lobby of the Hyatt Regency (the tour starts at the MCA at 2:00pm).
