CFP: ASA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, November 8-11, 2018

The Sports Studies Caucus of the American Studies Association seeks panel proposals for the 2018 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, November 8-11, 2018.

In particular, we seek proposals that address the 2018 Annual Meeting theme: "States of Emergence.” Per the ASA website: "“States of Emergence” emphasizes that our sense of crisis must be thought alongside our constant commitment to challenging the calamities that beset us and to producing alternative—indeed better—worlds.” The Sports Studies Caucus likewise encourages panel submissions that engage the Atlanta sportscape and its role in the sporting cultures of the Americas.

We also urge interested parties to consider non-traditional panel formats and the creation of interlocking or related panel sessions. For more information on preparing a proposal, visit https://www.theasa.net/node/5681 and scroll down to the header marked “Proposal Types.”

Have a panel idea? Visit our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/135180959965247/) to seek like-minded presenters, or contact Noah Cohan at [ncohan@wustl.edu]. Panel proposals submitted by Jan. 18 will be considered for caucus sponsorship by a vote of our members. To be considered, please e-mail ncohan@wustl.edu with a list of panelists and an abstract of 300 words.
