All participants, including chairs and commentators, should expect to pay their conference registration fees early by June 1, 2017. Only registered participants will be listed in the annual meeting program.

When you do register, please edit if necessary your institutional affiliation for the program. Click on edit my profile, select my addresses, and edit institution. Do not use abbreviations.

Cancellation Policy

All registrants who cancel prior to the conference or do not attend the conference forfeit their entire registration fee. Once you submit your registration you are not entitled to a refund. Canceling your conference registration does not automatically cancel your hotel and travel arrangements. You are responsible for canceling your own hotel and travel reservations plus any fees incurred for doing so.

Forfeited registration fees will automatically transfer to the Baxter Travel Grant Fund. The Baxter Grants provide partial travel reimbursement to advanced graduate students who are members of the ASA and will travel to the convention to appear on the Annual Meeting program.

Hotel Reservations

The 2017 Convention Headquarters for the American Studies Association Annual Meeting is the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive, Chicago IL, 60601. The Hyatt Regency Chicago has been selected in accordance with the ASA's policy on labor union preference for conventions. The Hyatt Regency Chicago also complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, its regulations, and guidelines. So that the hotel can better assist persons with special needs, individuals should indicate their specific needs when making a reservation and make their reservations as early as possible.

Attendees can also call 888-421-1442 and ask for the American Studies Association group rate. 

ASA Convention guest room rates are $229.00 for single/double, $30 for each additional occupant.  Available November 8 - 12, 2017. Group rate available until October 13, 2017.  Subject to Availability. All rates are subject to taxes. 

The 1st 50 attendees to reserve their hotel room will receive a special “Early Bird” rate of $209.  Attendee must select “Early Bird” on the reservations website drop down box.  Or, if calling in to make reservations via phone, attendee must mention the “American Studies Association Early Bird” rate.

Overflow Hotels

Overflow arrangements will be announced after the room block at the Hyatt is filled.

Student Rates

The ASA has reserved a block of rooms at the Hyatt at a reduced rate of $150 for students with single/double occupancy. $30 for each additional occupant. Available November 8 - 12, 2017. Additional student rooms will be reserved at overflow hotels and announced later.  All rates are subject to taxes.

Plan Ahead

Please make your reservation prior to October 13, 2017—as after October 13, all guest rooms will be sold on a space-available basis and will NOT be subject to the group discount. Be sure to obtain a confirmation number and bring your confirmation number with you to the hotel, in case you are asked for it upon check-in. Persons without reservation confirmation numbers may not be able to get a room at the hotel.
