American Studies Program

Affiliations and Special Resources: The Emmy Parrish Lectures in American Studies expose students to visiting scholars and lecturers.

Program Specializations: The graduate program is an interdisciplinary program offering comprehensive study in American institutions and culture. The basic program consists of courses in American history and American literature.

MA Requirements: The MA requires 30 hours of coursework, at least 15 of which must be in courses numbered above 500. Students take nine hours of core American Studies courses, two courses cross-listed with history, two courses cross-listed with English, and nine hours of electives to be chosen from American Studies courses approved for graduate credit.

American Studies Faculty

The American Studies Program at Baylor University is an interdepartmental program drawing extensively on the faculty and courses of a variety of departments on campus, primarily English and history.
