Submit Proposals for International Partnership Grants

Call for Proposals for the ASA International Partnership Grants Competition

This is to invite you to submit an application for an ASA International Partnership grant, proposing a partnership with a specific foreign program. The application should include a cover page (title of project, sponsoring institution, applicant’s name, address, e-mail, etc., amount requested), a list of faculty in the program who have expressed interest in being involved (and their fields of expertise), and a brief statement of commitment. U.S. applications must be signed by the program director. Proposals should also include details on the proposed collaborative project. The ASA will award the grants to U.S. programs proposing specific collaborations. The ASA will require a brief annual letter (or email) from the U.S. program and the foreign program describing the activities of the partnership during the previous year. (The grant money need not be spent during one academic year). The project directors of both U.S. and foreign programs applying for consideration for partnership grants should also include a one-page curriculum vita. Given the limits of the awards, the ASA Fund for International Partnerships in American Studies may not be used to purchase durable equipment or to subsidize anyone’s salary. The purchase and shipment of materials would be eligible for support. The ASA will determine whether any documentation from the U.S. program beyond the annual report is required. The ASA International Partnership grants range from $300 to $500. These are seed-monies intended to provide leverage for other grants. Matching dollars from other sources are encouraged, though not required. PROPOSALS DUE March 1, 2008.
