Showcasing a variety of theorizations and perspectives, this volume will probe the meaning of the term proletarianism and suggest ways to reimagine it in the context of undergraduate literary studies. It seeks to 1) suggest alternative temporal and aesthetic parameters for proletarianism; 2) draw connections between a proletarian canon and other literary categories (e.g., Harlem Renaissance, high modernism, middlebrow culture); and 3) reconsider the definitional boundaries of key terms (e.g., Communism, radicalism, class).
