Jan. 9 | Call for papers: Identities and Technocultures
A 2-day conference about American culture and technologies that examines how new technologies dominate and define Americaness in the US and abroad. Co-sponsored by the University of Iowa Center for Ethnic Studies and the Arts (CESA) and the Mid-America American Studies Association (MAASA).
The Women’s Studies Program and the American Studies Program at Temple University invite applications for a joint non-tenure track, one-year appointment for the 2008-09 academic year. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose area of specialization is in Sexuality /LGBT Studies, with emphasis on the cultural construction of gender and sexuality in film, literature and other cultural texts, and queer theory. The teaching load is four courses per semester, to include an introductory course in LGBT Studies, and an introductory course in American Studies, as well as electives in the candidate’s area of specialization. Ph.D. needs to be in hand by September 1, 2008; significant teaching experience strongly preferred.
