Call for Papers and Presentations

In anticipation of its 53rd annual conference, the executive committee of the Kentucky-Tennessee chapter of the American Studies Association invites proposals for papers, panels, and presentations. Interdisciplinary scholarship on all aspects of American culture is welcomed, especially as pertains to the history and culture of our region or to issues of American Studies pedagogy. Proposals for sessions in alternative formats—roundtables, talk-format, student panels, visual, aural, or performative presentations—are especially encouraged.
The annual meeting of the Kentucky-Tennessee ASA is a convivial gathering where scholarship is shared and debated in an idyllic setting. Interested persons from within and without the region are invited to submit and to attend.

Papers will be allotted twenty minutes on the program. There is no fixed length for other types of presentations, so proposals should indicate how
much time will be needed.

Proposals must include:
a)  an abstract of not more than one hundred words outlining the paper, panel or presentation proposed;
  b)  a separate cover sheet with the title of the proposal, author’s name, title, affiliation (if any), address, e-mail address, telephone and FAX numbers;
  c)  a brief (one paragraph) autobiography;
  d)  a note on any special requirements. (audio-visual or other)

Submit proposals via email or snail mail to:
Susan Myers-Shirk
Department of History, Middle Tennessee State University
P.O. Box 23
Murfreesboro, TN, 37132

Deadline for proposals: 16 FEBRUARY 2008
