Call for bids for American Studies journal

The Mid-America American Studies Association invites institutions within the Mid-America region to submit bids for management and publication of the quarterly interdisciplinary journal American Studies.  The journal, which merged with American Studies International in 2005, values interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship and frequently publishes special topics issues (recent issues have included “Aaron Douglas and the Harlem Renaissance,” “Homosexuals in Unexpected Places?” and “Indigeneity at the Crossroads”). The journal publishes book reviews and welcomes submissions on American Studies pedagogy.

Bids should include information about the following:
*  Vision: The bidders should prepare a brief vision statement for the journal.
*  Facilities:
o   facilities and equipment the institution will provide (office space, computing equipment and software, etc.);
o   proposed printing services
o   support for online presence
*  Staffing:
o   release time, salary benefits, or other support the institution will provide faculty editors
o   names and curriculum vitae of proposed editorial staff
o   proposed graduate student support for the journal, including any stipends or summer support included with the position
*  Budget:
o   estimated printing cost of one volume (1200 copies)
o   estimated yearly operating budget
o   proposed financial contributions from the hosting institutions (subventions, grants, subsidies, etc.)
*  Other: information about any additional support, facilities, equipment, etc. that the institution is prepared to offer

States included in the MAASA region are Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
