Sutherland, Gretchen Rolufs. "Of Winter Branches: The Literary Career of Anne Morrow Lindbergh," University of Iowa, December 1986.
For fifty years, in flight travelogues, poems, novels, essays, and diaries, Anne Morrow Lindbergh has redirected the public’s insatiable curiosity away from the front-page news about “Lindy” to her own expressions of spiritual awareness—expressions that implicitly seek to change the materialistic direction of life in technologically advanced, consumer driven societies. This study analyzes her published writing within the context of her life, laying the foundation for a full literary biography when access to materials now restricted would allow for a complete analysis.
