Interested in Serving on the ASA Students’ Committee?

The ASA Students’ Committee serves as the representative for all American Studies students, keeping the Executive Council and the association’s membership informed of the students’ current interests, needs, and professional orientations.  The Committee is composed of no less than 6 and no more than 10 members.  Each member serves a two-year, non-renewable term, with terms staggered across the committee members.  Committee membership is open to both graduates and undergraduates.

The two student councilors serve as the committee’s representatives on the ASA Council and serve staggered three-year, non-renewable terms.

How to Apply

1) Candidates must be association members and should possess expertise appropriate to the committee’s work.

2) Applicants must submit a brief statement outlining their qualifications and experience and a MAXIMUM two page vita by email as a Word, Word Perfect, or PDF document in a single attachment. Do not submit lengthy academic resumes.  Letters suggesting or recommending a candidate should also relate the candidate’s experience to the committee’s work.  Do NOT submit multiple nominations in a single document.

3) Materials are due on or before April 1 of each year. Send to the Executive Committee, American Studies Association, e-mail: asastaff@theasa.net

Self-nominations as well as faculty nominations are welcome.
