K-16 Collaboration Committee Report 2006

The K-16 Collaboration Committee for 2006-2007 includes five new members who will serve for three years (July 2006-June 2009). At the 2006 Annual Meeting, new co-chairs to serve from July 2007-2009 will be selected and nominations for replacing McHaney and Abshire will be discussed.

The Secondary Education Committee met in November 2004 at the annual convention in Atlanta primarily to discuss 2005 plans with 2005-2006 ASA President Karen Halttunen whose Presidential Initiative is Secondary Education and K16 collaboration.

The committee is engaged in critical review of its past contributions to the ASA, especially through the annual convention venue, and is establishing goals for future initiatives. Besides rebuilding the committee to benefit from new membership, we are reaching out to other networks serving secondary educators.

The Committee put together five workshops for the Kansas City convention. The attendance was, on average, higher than last year, ranging from ten (10) to twenty-five (25), with some foreign teachers attending some of the workshops.
